Event Summary:
The City of Aspen Special Events Department has taken over the task of Parade Production for the 4th of July. We will be working very closely with the Community Safety Department on the planning and production of the parade. Dave Pascal from Community Safety will be the contact person in regards to traffic detour and RFTA detour. The event website for registration and details is www.aspen4th.com

Site Plan (and maps):
We will request the removal of some "pedestrian walkway" signs from Hopkins.
Restrooms will be place alond Paepcke Park/Garmisch. The Parks department will help with the placement and removal of trash along the parade route. Streets will follow the last float, and fencing guy, to clean up the parade route. All no parking signs will be removed immediately follwoing the parade. | ||||||||||

Communication Plan:
The Special Events Department will rent radios from ALL State communications in Glenwood Springs for Parade operations. Colorado Protective Services will have their own communications as well as Community Safety and Aspen Police Department.

Parking Plan:
NO PARKING is requested along the parade route, and the Traffic Detour. I would like everyone`s opionion on marking the RFTA detour NO PARKING...i`m not sure if the entire RFTA detour is marked no parkign for this event. All no parking signs will be removed from the parade route, detour and RFTA detour immediately following the parade and the opening of main street.

Accessibility Plan:
We are discussing the best option for accessible parking for viewing of the parade. The block of Hopkins between hunter and spring was suggested and will be considered.

Approval Agency Request [04/10/2012 12:17 PM] I see that there is no security for the corners of 7th and Main or 7th and Hopkins. I believe a RFTA supervisor can be stationed at 7th and Main to facilitate bus getting in and out but as we all know the corner of 7th and Hopkins is where folks always try to park on that corner creating a big problem for RFTA. I don`t feel the the entire bus detour needs to be signed for No Parking but all corners need to be watched closely.
